A panoramic dental image is an X-ray examination that provides an overview of the condition of the teeth, jaws and surrounding tissues. It uses special equipment that takes a picture of the entire jaw at once. 

This type of image allows doctors to assess the position of the teeth, the condition of the dento-alveolar system, the presence of cysts, tumors or other pathologies. A panoramic dental image is an important tool for diagnosing various diseases of the oral cavity and jaws.

Clinical procedures in Türkiye are performed exclusively by licensed dentist İbrahim Türker at his authorized practice.

Panoramic dental imaging is performed for a variety of reasons:

  1. Diagnosis of diseases: Allows the detection of caries, cysts, tumors, inflammations and other pathologies in the teeth and jaws.
  2. Dental Assessment: Assesses the general condition of the teeth, their roots and root canals, and the extent of wear or damage.
  3. Treatment planning: Serves as a basis for planning treatment measures, orthodontic treatment or surgical interventions.
  4. Monitoring changes: Repeated panoramic images help to monitor changes in the dentoalveolar system over time.
  5. Preoperative preparation: Necessary to prepare for surgical procedures such as tooth extraction or implants.

These are just some of the reasons why a panoramic dental image is performed. Your doctor may recommend it for more accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Panoramic dental imaging is not mandatory before all procedures, but it may be recommended or necessary in certain cases, such as:

  1. Before surgery: To plan and prepare for surgery such as tooth extraction, implants and other surgical procedures.
  2. If serious illnesses are suspected: If cysts, tumors, inflammations or other pathologies are suspected that require a more detailed examination.
  3. To assess the general condition of the dentoalveolar system: To obtain a complete view of the condition of the teeth, jaws and surrounding tissues.

Your doctor will decide whether a panoramic dental x-ray should be performed on a case-by-case basis. If you have an appointment for the procedure, you will be informed whether this type of X-ray examination needs to be performed.

Dr. İbrahim Türker graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry in 2011. He has continued his professional work with a focus on aesthetic dentistry, prosthetic restorations and smile design. Since 2015, he has been practicing in Alanya and collaborating with colleagues in various dental disciplines. Within the scope of his clinical work, Dr. Türker performs aesthetic procedures, implant-supported prosthetic restorations and Botox applications. His professional interests include contemporary restorative techniques, digital workflows and patient-centered treatment planning.

Elena Bartenkova completed her Master’s degree in Administrative Management at the National Economic University of Ukraine. After gaining experience in several international companies, she moved to Türkiye and joined the Summer Dental team as a Patient Relations Manager. Elena supports patients throughout their visit by coordinating communication, appointment processes and organizational details. She assists in ensuring that treatment information is clearly conveyed between patients and the dental team.
